Half time of the Lincoln City v Macclesfield Town game saw Monks Abbey take on St Hughs in the first round of the Domino’s Tournament. Both sides started well and both sides had shots on and off target. Then St Hughs’ James Clark burst through Monks Abbey defence and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to put them 1-0 up. The game kicked off again and Cameron Smith (Monks Abbey) had a shot off target. Declan O’Boyle (St Hughs) then ran down the line with the ball and crossed it across the front of the goal for Jon Smith to tap into the back of the net.
St Hughs then got given a free kick in their own half, the ball was played over the top for Declan O’Boyle to run onto only to put the ball nicely into the corner of the goal out of reach of the Monks Abbey goalkeeper. St Hughs carried on pressurising the Monks Abbey goal with Tallon Spurr (Monks Abbey) making some great saves.
A corner was awarded to St Hughs, Callum Hill kicked it low across the front of the ball for Jon Smith to slide in to put it into the goal again. Callum Hill then ran at pace after a through ball and got a goal for himself to put St Hughs into the next round of the Domino’s half time tournament with a 5-0 win. Well Done!
