'Prime Time', a new activity club for people over 50, got off to a successful start four weeks ago, with large numbers on the first day. Based at Sincil Bank Stadium, the club has continued to receive good numbers in its first month. 'Prime Time' is for those over 50 who wish to take part in sports, and socialise with new and existing friends. The club runs every Wednesday between 10am and 12pm, and is free to attend.
At the first session, the group divided into three areas; one using the Nintendo Wii to play bowling and golf, another playing mini target-based games, and the third enjoying New Age Kurling. The subsequent weeks have followed a similar set up with the Nintendo Wii being a regular option, but with changes to the games played in the other two groups. Table tennis has made a couple of appearances along with New Age Bowls and Ten Pin Bowling. The target games have proved popular each week which have been varied to keep them interesting. So far these have included individual and team challenges; throwing beanbags into hoops, sliding them onto numbered targets, throwing hoops over cones, and many more.
'Prime Time' co-ordinator, Daniel Burnett, said: “We are really pleased with the response
we’ve received over the past few weeks. We had twenty five people in the first session and similar
numbers since. There is clearly a need for this sort of club in our community and we hope that people will continue to enjoy coming along and taking part.” To find out more, please select this link, or email
