Anti-Bullying Workshops

Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust delivered an interactive classroom workshop to pupils at Our Lady of Lincoln Catholic Primary aimed at tackling bullying in schools as part of Anti-Bullying Week.

The workshop kicked off by challenging pupils’ perceptions of well-known images, and pupils then discussed their answers which led to a frank and open discussion on many different forms of bullying. Miss Turner, Year 5 teacher at the school, commented “The activity where we looked at different animals to think about how or why they might be bullied, really opened up the childrens’ eyes to the many different forms of bullying, and helped them realise that everyone has strengths in different areas.” The pupils loved this activity. One Year 6 child said; “I hadn’t really thought about how different strengths can help a team until we played this game today.”

During the afternoon session, Gavin McCallum from Lincoln City’s first team playing squad, dropped in to meet pupils and join in the teambuilding games. Miss McGinty, project coordinator at the school, commented, “The delivery and content of the workshop was perfect for the children in Year 5 and 6, particularly those with a love of football. The workshop was delivered by enthusiastic staff from Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust which made it not only fun for the children, but also thought provoking and relevant. Thank you for a wonderful day.”
