On Friday September 10th, members of LCFCSET took part in a tournament to raise awareness of wheelchair basketball.
Competing against teams from Lincoln Co-op, Lincolnshire NHS, and the University of Lincoln, and several others, LCFCSET won the competition, taking back to the office a trophy and a bottle of wine each. The event which was held at University of Lincoln’s Sports Centre was held to raise awareness of the rapidly expanding wheelchair basketball landscape. Members of the Lincoln Jaguars team (the leading wheelchair basketball team in the East Midlands) coached each team on the day before they began the tournament. Strong tournament favourites from the start, the LCFCSET team won every game but were really challenged in the final with a nerve-racking sudden death penalty shoot out. After several misses from both sides, LCFCSET health coordinator Jon Biggs scored the final basket which won the team the final prize.
